Weekly Message, A Valentine

Pastor Dick Hurd: Richard Hurd

The Mid-Week Message is an On-Line Ministry Of Pastor Dick Hurd and the “Caton Church” (A new Global Methodist Community of Faith) February 12, 2025

I am getting a new puppy this Friday and I am beginning to get excited about it. She is a Golden retriever, eight weeks old and full of energy, curiosity and probably a natural inclination for youthful mischief. I just hope I can keep up with her. Her name is Rosie and with just one brief visit I think she has already stolen my heart. My home has been entirely too quiet since I lost my twelve-year old yellow lab Belle a few months ago and I am looking forward to being greeted when I come home with the unconditional love that these wonderful animals always seem to possess for those who care for them. The relationship we often develop with our furry friends is I think one of mutual dependency. We care for their physical and emotional needs and they seem to do the same for us. You see, we all need to love and we all need to be loved. God created you and me to be the objects of His love, but He also created us to love Him in return. Did you ever think how amazing it is that even God needs and wants to be loved. If we think about it, we understand that the God of the Bible is the ONE true God of all creation. That means that there is no other…He is alone! He was lonely, so He created!! He created us in His image… so that we would love Him and He could love us. Friday is also Valentines Day perhaps we should send our God a valentine prayer! And maybe even one of those little heart shaped candies that says “Be Mine”!!

Yours in the love of Christ

Pastor Dick
