I must confess I sometimes get caught up in the act of scrolling on Facebook just to pass the time. My rationale for this activity is that it is much easier than mowing the lawn or cleaning the house.  This morning I was watching a video of an older comedian. I thought he would be funny without being obscene. I was wrong, so I kept scrolling and the very next offering on my screen was a beautiful rendition of “Blessed Lord take my hand, lead me on help me stand, I am tired, I am weak, I am worn.”

Now, I would not be so presumptuous as to claim that God was speaking to me at that moment, but I can definetly say that I got the message.  It is amazing to me that when the deceiver gets our attention with worldly and often ungodly things Our Father God finds a way to draw us back towards Him. Take my hand precious Lord!  Lead me home!
1st  Peter reminds us “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”  That sounds pretty scarry doesn’t it? But if we go down to verse ten, there is this wonderful reassurance for us… And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.  To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Just another affirmation that we do not walk this journey alone, that Jesus our good shepherd is well aware and watching each and every lion out there that seeks to devour us. He is always ready and willing to take our hand and lead us home. We have but to reach out and seek His holy embrace.

Yours in the love of Christ,
Pastor Dick
