Caton Church

        The Caton Church has been struggling to determine what God’s will is for our church going forward. We are   praying for discernment and wisdom to know what our next steps should be.  We are trying to be patient and wait for God’s direction, but in our humanness, we want it all now. We want to be settled and sure. We want to be able to look into and plan our future.  I think for many of us we feel like we are stuck in some sort of limbo, not knowing or not understanding what God’s plan is for us and for our church.                                                                           

        In the midst of it all I ran across this bit of wisdom that I think may apply to our situation and might guide us in the direction of our prayers.     “It’s hard to hear God’s voice when you’ve already decided what you want Him to say!”                                                                                                          

          Is that what we are doing? Are we asking God to give us what we want, to do it our way, to give us the desires of our hearts?   Am sure we have all have a perfect solution to all of this in our minds and hearts but we need to ask ourselves, is my vision for the church and God’s vision the same, or am I insisting on my way because it would please me?                                         

           I don’t presume to know what that ultimate answer is, but perhaps our approach to prayer concerning it all might be one of surrender rather than, “let’s make a plan and get God to agree with it.”   Just a few thoughts for us all to think about.
