“Martha, Martha” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things.” Luke 10:41 Can you read that again, only this time insert your name in Martha’s place? Can you put a name to those “many things?”
I have always loved that story, maybe because it hits so close to home and makes me want to be more like Mary. Of course, Martha’s work was important too and it all needed to be done, I don’t mean to diminish her dedication but her choice is for the moment while Mary chooses a path of more eternal significance and Jesus affirms her choice.
I want to share with you, portions of a prayer written by Ken Gire from His book titled, “Intimate Moments with the Savior” He writes: Dear Savior at whose feet I now sit. When you knock on the door to my heart, what is it you are looking for? Is it not for fellowship? How often do you find me at your feet, and how many times have I become distracted and left you there, sitting… waiting… longing? Forgive me and help me to understand that it is an intimate moment you seek from me. Guard my heart and help me to fix my eyes on you. Bring me out of the kitchen, Lord. Bid me come to your feet, and there may I thrill to sit and adore You. Amen.
I believe there is a place for each of us at the feet of Jesus. It is a Holy and sacred place much like the place He makes for us at His table. Can you find your way there, He is waiting you know!
