A friend’s doctor told her, “If he were God” he could assure her of the outcome she wanted. That statement made me wonder, what a challenge it is for us to imagine what we might do “If we were God.” It also would be a stark reminder that we are not! I am pretty sure that the vast complexity of God’s creation is far beyond our ability to direct or control.
But if I were God, I could make the world a paradise. No, God already did that and we messed it up.
If I were God I could make everybody love one another and the world would be at peace! But I think God already told us to do that and most people didn’t listen.
If I were God I could eradicate hunger in the world. But I read that there is already enough food to feed every person in the world but there are so many who have more than they need and are not willing to share it.
If I were God I could offer the world salvation and promise them an eternity in heaven, but just like all the rest I couldn’t deliver on those promises so I guess I had better let God be God.
That might be the hardest thing I could do, because I do like to be in control, but I think it would be the best thing I could do. Just let God be God and I’ll be me and try to tell people what God can do and what I cannot! Sound like a plan? Maybe we could do that together!
