See you Sunday?

This coming  Sunday is sometimes called low Sunday because church attendance is usually lower than average.  It seems that with a possibility of two or more Church services in the same week as we often do during Holy week, we should follow it with a day off from God.  After all, we wouldn’t want to overdo this religion thing.  Sounds silly doesn’t it?  Sadly, this is the way some people think about their relationship with God. I guess it is a good thing that God doesn’t share our mindset on the subject.

I have it on good authority that God is present in Church every Sunday as well as any midweek services we might want to have. It seems to me that it would be a shame to miss out on any opportunity spend time in His Holy presence., but many choose to do so.

I understand, that life gets in the way with other commitments, with family and job responsibilities and such, and I am certain God understands when those demands call us away.  But I am sure glad Jesus didn’t have something more important to do on Good Friday, aren’t you?

Perhaps we might consider that, when we arise on Sunday morning and decide that it seems like a good day to go fishing or engage in some other pursuit more worthy of our time and effort.

Don’t get me wrong there are mornings when I am tempted to forego the gathering of like believers in favor of some more exciting or more fun or maybe even something that requires less energy and effort. But I am the Pastor so…

Besides, my little brother used to take joy in reminding me that I only work one day out of the week anyway so I shouldn’t attempt to take that day off!

Anyway, regardless of all my silly meanderings, and my poor attempt to be wise and speak profoundly, I pray that this Sunday you might find yourself at the feet of Jesus, once again eagerly listening to every sacred word He chooses to share with you.

May you be blessed to be in His house and in His presence on this Sabbath day, praising the name of Jesus!

Yours in the love of Christ                                                                                         Pastor Dick                                                                                                 Breath Prayer:  Save me a place Lord, I’ll be there. Amen
