We often hear people say that we should praise God in the storm as well as in the calm and of course that is scripturally correct.  I wonder though, how many of us can follow that advice.   How many of us have the spiritual maturity to claim God’s victory the midst of our own personal struggles and defeats.   Of course, as always, it is a matter of faith, isn’t it? And sadly, when we fall short of that goal, we often magnify the defeat with a generous helping of guilt and self-deprecation. It seems that sometimes we are our own worst enemy.  But Jesus does not require us to have all the answers. He does not ask us to be perfect or to have our act together at all times. Jesus simply says that we should “cast all our cares upon Him… because He cares for us!”   So, when your world is falling apart, when your well-ordered life is a mess, when you are in the midst of the storm… Give it to God and as my brother used to say, “Hide and watch.”  Hide and watch and witness the power of God dealing with your storm! Friends, the battle is not ours to fight.
If we truly and honestly claim Jesus as Lord, He is by His own word our refuge, our strength, our very help in time of need!   Jesus is our island of peace in the midst of whatever the world throws at us!  Ours is to simply trust in the one who lived and died and lives again simply and only because of His incomprehensible love for you.
I pray that this message finds you on still waters, but if it finds you on raging seas, take heart, be of good courage and see the power of God calm your storm!

Yours in the love of Christ
