Hearts continued to be warmed by Your love

Midweek Message

The Mid-Week Message is an On-Line Ministry          Of Pastor Dick Hurd and the “Caton Church”                                                          A Global Methodist Community of Faith                            December 3, 2025

As you are well aware the snow has arrived and the cold unforgiving wind blows harshly across the landscape. For the next four months or more we will enjoy or endure, depending on your perspective, this cooler, less hospitable season as we wait patiently for those first signs of spring.  As you probably know, or have already guessed, winter is not my most favorite time of the year.

However, it is and always will be a new season of ministry in our hearts, in our lives, and in our Church. We don’t get to sit-this-one-out because we don’t like the weather. The work of a disciple never ends.

For the next few weeks, we will be celebrating the Advent and Christmas season and it seems that everyone is fully on board for that time of, hope, love, joy, and peace.  Sadly, however, we seem to want to fall asleep after all the festivities are complete and just remain dormant until those spring flowers begin to emerge.

But friends, the Christmas season does not end on December 25th it is just beginning on that day. The first day of Christmas is on the 25th, but the twelfth, and final day of Christmas is January 6th, Epiphany!  A time when we recognize the divinity of Christ, and celebrate the event of His baptism in the Jordan river by John the Baptist.

Following that day we begin to examine again, the three years of ministry that Jesus spent walking the dusty roads of Galilee sharing His message of love mercy and forgiveness.  So, you see this cycle of ministry does not end, it just repeats year after year, giving more and more people the opportunity to come to Jesus and receive the most precious gift, be it Christmas, Easter or any other season.                                           \

May this Christmas season be a blessing to one and all.

Yours in the love of Christ

Pastor Dick

Breath Prayer; Lord in the cold of winter may our hearts continue to be warmed by Your love.  Amen
