I just had a huge dumpster delivered to my house with the intention of cleaning out nearly fifty years, of accumulated stuff!  I am being charitable it is really just junk! The guy that delivered it said “if I need another one just call.”  Goodness, I hope I don’t need another one.

But that Is often the case, isn’t it? We have no idea how much clutter we accumulate in the attics, the basements, the garages and any other place we can hide the no longer needed stuff of life.  This is not only true of the physical part of our life but of the personal and spiritual parts of our lives as well.
Do you have any of those dark corners that need a bit of dusting off and cleaning out?  I think most of us do. Unfortunately renting a big dumpster is not going to be very helpful in cleaning out those less-than physical collections of discarded and hidden away things that are unseen and un-dealt with. Some bits of our personal history require a deeper cleansing, a cleansing of the heart and even of the soul. And of-course that cleansing begins with confession and repentance. This is a step that is very difficult if not impossible for many of us because confessing requires us to admit that we were wrong. Repentance means that we must turn away from and give up that activity or behavior that we have become accustomed to and perhaps still find enjoyment in or gain pleasure from. If we are to be and become true followers of Christ as is our ultimate goal then cleansing of the heart is essential.  It doesn’t require a dumpster, It requires the grace of God.  It requires a personal relationship with the savior!
Thanks be to God those things are always, always available to us!

Yours in the Love of Christ
