“God, I choose you over everything!” I heard that statement today and I thought, what a powerful statement of faith and how life changing it must be to come to that point in your faith walk! I think we all want to be that dedicated, but I wonder how many of us are willing to put God first in All things all the time.
Even if we can make that statement how many can really live it every day? For myself, I am sure I can claim that kind of dedication, but only with one qualification. My personal statement, if I am painfully honest with myself, would be “God, I choose you over everything, (today). Or on some days it might even be “for this hour.”
I think it is important for us to be honest with ourselves and to recognize our shortcomings, because surely our Lord already knows those things about us. And so, if it is important to be honest with ourselves, then it is even more important to be honest with God! Any of us who are serious about our relationship with God knows deep down in our souls that we still have a lot of work to do.
Deep, all-inclusive faith is not easy. It is a day by day, hour by hour, even minute by minute struggle to be the kind of disciple that we were created by God to be. So, friends, continue to fight the good fight, stay the course, one day, one hour even one minute at a time. Your reward will be great in heaven!
