Author and Pastor Chuck Swindoll said that “You are worth more to God than you can possibly imagine Every individual, including you is of immense worth to Him!” Many of us might respond to that statement saying, “I wish that were true.” So, why is that so hard for us to believe?
Scripture says that we are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, that seems like a pretty good affirmation! Jesus himself refers to us as children of God. Are we not encouraged when we hear that? But to say that we are worth more to God than we can imagine? What do we need to understand in order to embrace that notion?
Maybe we should ask ourselves, what would I be willing to do for those whom I love? Would you give up your beautiful home to travel to strange and hostile places just so you could tell those people about the love of God? Would you live in abject poverty for three years in order to bring that message of grace and forgiveness? Would you be willing to suffer torture and abuse and ultimately die in the most horrific way possible so that others might be forgiven and receive eternal life?
I am always amazed to hear the story of Abraham offering his son Isaac on the altar as a sacrifice to God and then hear people ask, how could any father do such a terrible thing? Has God not done the same for you and me?
If you ever question Jesus and ask Lord, How much do you value and love me? In your mind’s eye see Him stretch his arms wide, allow them to be nailed to a cross as He says I love you this much!
