The Mid-Week Message Is an On-Line Ministry Of Pastor Dick Hurd and the “Caton Church” A Global Methodist Community of Faith October 1, 2025 People sometimes ask me how I come up with these Mid-Week messages. I really don’t have a good answer for that question. Sometimes, like today, I just sit down and begin writing with the hope that something good or inspiring will result. So far this is obviously not one of those days. My brother Don used to say that as he sat down to write his sermon the Holy Spirit intervened about half way down his arm and what appeared on the paper was quite unlike what he thought he had written or had intended to write. So, trusting that premise, who knows what might emerge at the bottom of this paper. Or perhaps my nonsensical approach will simply result in a nonsensical message. In any case, the sky is still blue and the leaves are beautiful in their glorious autumn colors and despite all the trouble and negativity in our world, God is still in control. Beyond that, regardless of my ability or inability to create some memorable words of wisdom, perhaps I might bring a brief smile to your day. Maybe that would be enough until some magnificent seed of inspiration should enter my otherwise feeble mind. That being said, grace and peace to you in the precious name of Jesus!
