Pastor Dick Hurd: Richard Hurd
The Mid-Week Message is an On-Line Ministry Of Pastor Dick Hurd and the “Caton Church” A Global Methodist Community of Faith April 2, 2025
Being April first I was searching scripture for some reference to being a fool or being foolish. To my surprise I found a wealth of such references throughout the Bible. It seems that being foolish is historically well documented so, perhaps this day is for you, or for me.
I would not be so bold, or so insensitive as to call anyone a fool but it does seem that the cards are traditionally stacked against us all. Can you recall ever doing something foolish or do you remember an event or time in your life when in retrospect you were indeed considered by yourself or others to be the fool. Personally, I can remember a plethora of such incidents in my life and I can imagine that there are others who would concur. This however, does in no way prove anything of the sort. Thinking back on most of those, alleged foolish events, I am compelled to admit that they were probably the direct result of my thinking that I was being wise. Perhaps it is the same for you.
Anyway, as we are compelled by the number on the calendar to consider these things each year, I believe that I have duly made the mandatory considerations.
So, if you were expecting to find some profound and wise lesson in the midst of this lengthy and heretofore nonsensical bit of prose… April Fools!!!
I hope this silliness bring a smile into your day, sometimes we need that!
Yours in the Love of Christ
Pastor Dick
