We are all saddened this week as we hear report after report of the flood devastation in east Texas. As the numbers mount up and we hear that many of the lost are young girls who were attending a church summer camp there. Just a few days ago parents dropped off their little girls for a fun week of games, fellowship and a time to grow their faith in this seemingly safe environment. Then came the news, the panic and the all-consuming grief. How do you deal with something like that? How do you comfort those families who have lost a portion of their hearts? How do you even pray for those whose life is damaged to such a degree? Sometimes there are no words to express a wound so deep. Sometimes you can only sit by their side and weep with them. Sometimes they simply must let God feel their grief, and allow Him to listen to the inner groanings of their soul. Groanings so deep, so devastated so unbelievably sad, just sad!! Holy Father: come alongside those grieving families today. Give them the blessed assurance of your mercy in their darkest hour, bathe them in the comfort of your Holy presence. Grant them your peace in their deeply troubled hearts. It is in the name of Jesus that we pray. Amen Friends, pray without ceasing for these precious souls. Yours in the love of Christ Pastor Dick |
