Pastor: Richard Hurd
Midweek Message | |
The Mid-Week Message is an On-Line Ministry Of Pastor Dick Hurd and the “Caton Church” A Global Methodist Community of Faith September 24, 2025 “I forgive him,” Can we even begin to comprehend what courage and faith it took for Ericka Kirk, in front of the entire world, to speak those three words? And yet that is exactly what our God calls us to do! But beyond all that, beyond the words, beyond the tears, beyond the hype surrounding the whole situation there is more. Because, in the quiet hours when no one is watching, in the stillness of the lonely night when she or we are alone with our God, forgiveness goes beyond the words. It requires of us to own what we have said. It calls us to live a life of forgiveness and grace just as our Lord Jesus did. I think for many of us, we probably struggle with that. Because, truly forgiving one who has hurt us so deeply requires a level of faith that many have not yet realized. We are, as disciples of Christ, called by our faith to be in the world, but not of the world. We are encouraged to forgive as we have been forgiven. Jesus reminds us that the world will know that we are His if we have love for one another. You see, being a Christian disciple is not a passive thing. It requires of us to actively pursue the likeness of Christ every day. I think Erika Kirk’s words, faith and wisdom are powerful witnesses to the faith we proclaim, and a challenge for each of us to be strong and active in our faith as well! Yours in the love of Christ Pastor Dick Breath Prayer: Lord, help me to proclaim your truth, love and forgiveness. Amen
