Pastor: Richard Hurd
Midweek message | |
The Mid-Week Message is an On-Line Mini Of Pastor Dick Hurd and the “Caton Church” A Global Methodist community of faith September 18, 2025 In these days of controversy and uncertainty we might find ourselves fearful. What is going to happen next? How can I cope with it all? Am I going to be ok? Certainly, we need reassurances in unsure circumstances. We need order when the world seems out of control. We need peace within us when there is violence all around us. We search for answers and the world just gives us more questions. Perhaps what we really need is confidence in a God promised future! Confidence when He tells us “Be not afraid”, Confidence when He reminds us, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age. Are we lacking the confidence of the children of God? And then of course we hear those who claim that we are in the end times and Jesus is coming soon and much of what they are saying certainly seems to fit the Biblical narrative, and makes sense considering the condition of our world today. I think we all would welcome that revelation of God, That Jesus would return and make all things right again. We sing, Come, Jesus, come, we’ve been waiting so long, and we meet that possibility with eagerness, joyful anticipation and perhaps a little angst, wondering deep down if we are really prepared for his return. But Jesus is not a heavenly band-aid who will come and cover our skinned knees and kiss away the hurt. He has not promised that, if we follow him, that our lives will be a bed of roses. He has however told us that we don’t face this life alone if we would accept Him and walk with Him in our weakness. Because in our weakness He is strong! In our inabilities, He is able. In our fear, He is fearless! In our powerlessness He is Powerful! In our wandering faith He is always, always faithful!! So, as the future stretches out before us, as we see and endure all the evil that Satan throws in our path, as we go forth in this spiritual battle may we know and believe that the battle is already won, Jesus has brought us the victory through his blood. Our task now is to rescue as many prisoners of war as we can and bring them home. Yours in the Love of Christ Pastor Dick Breath Prayer: Lord Grant us the courage to face these uncertain days as we walk in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Amen
