This past weekend I spent three days with forty God fearing men who love the Lord Jesus Christ. It would be a vast understatement to report that I was simply blessed by that experience because it is so much more than that.                                               I was privileged to be a witness to growing faith, to spiritual battles being fought and won, to the realization of the peace that passes understanding, and even the soul saving power of God’s grace. And I was blessed to be a small part of it all.

Because of the nature of those mountaintop experiences, it is difficult to move on right away. I want to linger for a while, take it all in, remember the moments that stand out. I want to relive the blessings received, the sense of community, perhaps even the camaraderie of like believers reaching out to one another in prayer and fellowship.  But for each of us there is a valley waiting, jobs to return too, responsibilities to take up once again, burdens and battles that have not changed or decreased since last week.  But we are all in some way different now. We have encountered the sacred, we have found ourselves face to face with our Lord and come away stronger, more dedicated, more assured of our place in the family of God.

Is this time a cure all for everything that is not perfect in our lives, no, not at all. But we are better equipped to face those things.  We know on a deeper level that we are never alone. We are more aware of where our strength comes from. We have been for a brief time made aware of the spirit of God that dwells within each one of us and by God’s grace we will go forward clinging to that sacred awareness. And we will find ourselves more grateful for it, more responsive to the one who has provided it and more deeply in love with our Lord Jesus than we ever thought possible!

I pray for each of you that you may find and keep for a lifetime that deep, deep well of faith promised in God’s word!

Yours in the love of Christ

Pastor Dick
